Summary: Stirring during the colloidal silver generation process improves the effectiveness of ionic colloidal silver by creating smaller particles of silver. Stirring imparts motion to the colloidal silver which helps separate the silver particles in solution. This separation helps keep the silver particles from clumping into larger particles. The Tyndall Effect can be used to show that smaller silver particles have been created by stirring.
Tyndall Effect: Laser light reflecting from silver particles in a colloidal silver solution is called the Tyndall Effect. Silver ions are far too small to reflect visable amounts of laser light but the reflections from silver particles (silver atoms clumped together) can be seen by the naked eye. Colloidal silver with larger particles tends to reflect more light; smaller silver particles reflect less light. Of course, to meaningfully compare the Tyndall Effect of two solutions of colloidal silver, the silver concentrations (in PPM) of both solutions should be the same.
Why smaller silver particles are important: For colloidal silver to do it's "magic", direct contact with pathogens is required. At any given silver concentration (PPM), the colloidal silver solution with the smallest particles will have the most surface area and therefore the greatest chance for this direct contact. Therefore, less intense Tyndall Effect is a good indication of the effectiveness of a colloidal silver solution.
Comparing Tyndall Effect of two solutions: The photo to the right shows two jars of 12 PPM colloidal silver generated using our Smart Silver Generator. Both solutions of colloidal silver are crystal clear to the naked eye. The jar on the left was stirred (using Smart Stirrer); the other jar was unstirred. As you can see in the photo, both jars of colloidal silver are being illuminated with the same laser light to create the Tyndall Effect. Notice how much stronger the light reflects from the unstirred jar (on the right); that's because of the larger silver particles in the unstirred jar.
If you want the ultimate in small particle ionic colloidal silver, use a stirrer!
